Welcome to the SinnePfad in the Hennesee Vacation Region!
A trail for the whole family—here, everyone can touch and try out the individual stations while testing their senses at the same time.
Nature and the forest are full of undiscovered surprises, because we only see, feel, hear, or taste a very small part of what they have to offer. A few thousand years ago, human senses were even more acute. Today, they’re becoming increasingly dulled by unnatural loud noises, garish colors, and the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The SinnePfad offers you the chance to sharpen your senses again for vital natural processes that aren’t so loud, garish, or hectic. Embark on a sensory journey of discovery. You might recognize the hammering of the European great spotted woodpecker. But do you know how it locates its prey inside the tree trunk?
Interactive Stations
10 interactive stations along the 2.0 km-long SinnePfad give you the chance to let nature surprise you in a playful way. Living with purpose means being aware of your surroundings and treating them with respect. We humans are in this together with nature.
The Trail
From the walking path along the shore of Lake Hennesee, it’s about 650 m to the SinnePfad. Just before the start, you’ll see an information board showing the trail’s route. From here, it’s another 450 m to the entrance gate of the SinnePfad. From there, follow the trail clockwise. Since it’s a natural trail, it’s not accessible to people with disabilities and isn’t suitable for strollers.
If you’re traveling with a stroller, you should use the forest path that runs parallel to it. It’s also recommended to use this alternative route in winter or during wet weather.
Parking
There are plenty of parking options along Lake Hennesee. We recommend using the Hennedamm hiking parking lot (near the Hennedamm Hotel, Am Stadtpark 6). From there, you can take the footpath that leads to the dam. If you prefer a more athletic challenge, climb the dam via the 333 steps of the “Himmelstreppe” (Stairway to Heaven). Once you reach the Hennedamm, turn left and follow the path along the shore. You’ll soon pass the “SinnePfad” sign. Here, turn left and head uphill into the forest. About 500 meters past the information board, you’ll reach the entrance to the “SinnePfad.” From here, follow the path clockwise through the forest. Have fun!
Sturdy shoes; parts of the trail are a beaten path through the woods
If you're out and about with a stroller, use the forest trail that runs parallel to the main path. This alternative route is also recommended in wet weather.
The regular route of the SinnePfad is not accessible and is not suitable for strollers.
