Diemelsee Panorama Trail Quality Tour - Adventure Hiking with Views

Sauerland-Seen / Neusta Touren / Diemelsee Panorama Trail Quality Tour - Adventure Hiking with Views
The "Panoramaweg Diemelsee" quality trail is one of the most beautiful circular hiking routes for half-day hikes in the Sauerland. Spectacular panoramic views await you.

We start with a steep climb—the only one on the route—from about 360 m above sea level to nearly 600 m above sea level.
Magnificent views reward this brief effort. What follows can simply be described as a leisurely hike. We hike through various valleys, with ever-changing views and panoramas. Shorter stretches through the forest alternate with paths through fields and meadows. Toward the end, we head back down a somewhat steep path to the shore of the reservoir.

There are no places to stop for a meal, but there are lovely rest areas where you can enjoy a packed lunch.

Directions

Starting point: Florenbicke hiking parking lot, 500 m past the northern edge of Heringhausen on the road to Helminghausen/Staumauer. From the Florenbicke hiking parking lot, turn left and follow the trail marked with a white car on a black background (Heringhausen Panorama Trail) uphill. The trail continues with almost no change in elevation; after the next steep section, you’ll reach a secondary summit. Here, at the 1769 boundary stone, turn right onto the path leading to the lookout point with the summit cross on St. Muffert. Follow the same trail markings to the left until you reach the summit of the Eisenberg. Just past the summit, as you begin your descent, we recommend taking a detour to the next viewpoint overlooking the reservoir. Emerging from the forest with a magnificent view to the east, leave the Diemelsteig to the right and stay on the Panoramaweg (PW) until you rejoin the Diemelsteig, which you’ll follow toward Adorf. At the edge of the forest, leave the Diemelsteig and continue straight ahead along the forest edge. Go around the small clearing in the forest and take the next path to the right until you reach the paved road; turn right here. Follow the paved road to the end of the forest edge. At the intersection with hiking trail H2 and Nordic walking route 69, turn left. At the junction with hiking trail H2, we leave the paved road. We walk through a flat valley basin and hike along the ridge of the Klus on Nordic Walking Trail 68, also known as the Panorama Trail (PW). At the mountain hut, head back over the Klus and you’ll reach a meadow path. At the hairpin turn, before turning right again, take a moment to look out at the lake. At the H2 trail junction, turn right across the meadow back toward the village. You’ll pass the Diemelsee Golf Park, with the Diemelsteig Hut and a children’s playground, until you reach the main road. Turn right—it’s just a few more steps back to the parking lot.
