As a climatic health resort with an inviting spa park and wide lakeside promenade, Langscheid offers plenty of space for strolling. Green areas, playgrounds and plenty of seating with a view of the lake offer opportunities to relax or enjoy live music or small theater performances on the lake stage. The dam wall, the MS Sorpesee boat landing stage and pedal boat hire are also located here. The top restaurants line the promenade closely together and serve up the Mediterranean lifestyle on large lakeside terraces on Lake Sorpesee. The municipality was first mentioned in documents in 1307.

Information

Directions

First you hike from the parking lot with the hiking sign L5 over the Sorp dam. At the end you have to decide: Do you hike to the right or left? We describe the right-hand option here. So you leave the dam to the right. After 600m, a narrow forest path leads left into the forest. You walk uphill, the path turns into a path and you reach a forest path. Follow this to the right (take the lower path) and soon you can enjoy beautiful views of the Sorpesee. The path winds its way through the forest above Sorpesee along numerous bends. After a good 4 km, leave this path and follow the L5 markings to the left and uphill. Turn left again at a single oak tree. A wide gravel path now leads up to the "Stück" with its refuge. After a well-deserved break, turn left behind the hut and through the "Buchholz" you will reach the familiar spot from the outward route. Continue straight on for another 400m and then turn left down to the dam. Now cross the dam again and return to the parking lot.

Equipment

Rucksack provisions and hiking poles are an advantage

Safety guidelines

Here, too, the bark beetle has struck, so you can expect to be affected by tree felling work while hiking!

Author Tip

A boat trip on the Sorpesee is actually a MUST!
There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments on the promenade in Langscheid.
