Directions

The access routes start in Meinerzhagen at the train station/ZOB, GoogleMaps coordinate: 51.108078, 7.634699, and also at the town hall, GoogleMaps coordinate: 51.108022, 7.640709. The access routes lead through Meinerzhagen town center, via Gerichtsstrasse and later via Heerstrasse to the Schallershaus hiking parking lot. This is where the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail begins.In addition to parking spaces, there are also some information boards at the entrance portal where you can find out about the course of the Höhenflug and where to stop for refreshments on the first stage to Nordhelle. Take a seat on the numerous seating options and, with a bit of luck, you can watch the hustle and bustle on the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen.

For visitors from the Cologne area, the RB 25 runs every hour from Cologne main station to Meinerzhagen. And for visitors from the Ruhrgebiet, the RB52 has been running every two hours from Hagen Hbf. to Lüdenscheid-Brügge since 10.12.2017 and from there onwards with the RB25 to Meinerzhagen, which means that the connection from the Ruhrgebiet through the Volmetal is also available again.

Getting there

Meinerzhagen is located in the immediate vicinity of the A 45, has its own highway exit and can be reached in an hour's drive from the Ruhrgebiet and the Cologne/Aachen metropolitan area. Coming from the Ruhrgebiet, turn left at the first set of traffic lights to get onto the L306 n southern bypass, then stay right on Heerstraße past the Hotel-Restaurant "Am Schnüffel". From there it is about 800m to the Schallershaus entrance portal.Coming from Olpe on the A45, turn right at the first set of traffic lights, get into the left-hand lane at the second set of traffic lights and then stay right on the L306 south bypass past the Hotel-Restaurant "Am Schnüffel" and continue as described above.The turn-off to the Schallerhaus hiking parking lot is signposted.
