The access trail starts at the Feuerteich parking lot in the center of Attendorn. Unfortunately, hikers can only park here for a limited time, so parking at the train station or hospital is recommended. The trail leads through the town center, past the cemetery and then on through forests and meadows up into the Ebbegebirge mountains. Shortly below the hilltop village of Windhausen, the feeder road meets the Sauerland-Höhenflug. From here, you can either continue towards Nordhelle and Meinerzhagen or towards Hülschotten and Lenhausen. From the heights of Windhausen, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Attendorn, the Biggesee and the mountain ridges of the Sauerland. On a clear day, the view extends as far as the Hunau tower on the Hunau.
