This 21.3 km long Waldroute circular hike runs 12 km along the Sauerland-Waldroute. If the route is too long for you, you can board the boat in Amecke after just under 12 km and return to Langscheid. The MS Sorpesee departs every hour on the half hour. There are two huts to stop off at along the way, and on warm days there is an ice cream van near the gate to the Waldroute in Amecke. An ideal day tour with the option of stopping for lunch in Amecke or a final stop in Langscheid. The hiking signs are a green W on a white background and a white W on a green background on the Waldroute.

Information

Directions

First follow Langscheider Str. for approx. 350m in the direction of Langscheid and then turn left onto Ringstraße. From here, follow the "green W on a white background" markings across the Flasmecke valley until you reach country road 544, which you follow for approx. 400m (take care!) and then turn left towards Schloss Melschede. After 2.3 km along the beautiful Mühlenbach valley you reach Melscheder Mühle. Still following the 'green W' hiking sign, turn left and immediately right again. After 500m, at a fork in the path, you reach the start of the Sauerland-Waldroute. Now follow the white W on a green background.Along the foot of the Brachtenberg, you cross the Lürbkebach stream on a path and reach a forest path again. Where the Waldroute bends to the right, you can fill up your water bottles with healthy spring water at the Heinrichsquelle (the spring is a few steps to the left). Along a forest meadow in the Lürbkebachtal valley, the route continues leisurely with beautiful views to the Mellener Kopf and on to the Bollenberg. Here, the bench at the 'Weltenhund' invites you to take a break and enjoy the legend at your leisure. Freshly rested, the trail now descends through the Hermkesiepen to the Sorpesee. Cross the lake and continue uphill past the Julianenhütte parking lot to the Höhweg trail. Staying on the Höhweg, you finally reach the 'Auf dem Stück' refuge. Here you leave the Waldroute again and, following the "green W" sign, you initially head downhill to the left until the Sorpesee comes into view. From the main path, take a path to the left down to the Sorpesee. You return to Langscheid via the dam wall. Along the beautiful Sorpe promenade and the spa gardens, you reach the starting point of the tour at the sports field.

Information about the rescue signs on the Sauerland-WaldrouteMost hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?In an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the Sauerland-Waldroute is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.

Author Tip

Unbedingt in Langscheid auf den Aussichtsturm gehen. Es gibt einen tollen Blick auf den Sorpesee!
