- Round trip
The alternative route of the Meschede high-level hiking trail takes you from Oesterberge, over 15.6 km, through wooded areas back to your starting point.
Oesterberge
Oesterberge
We hike from Oesterberge in a westerly direction through the forest and reach the Markshöhe at 591 m above sea level. From there, the path runs parallel to the "B2" for a while and leads us in a northerly direction. We circle Braberg and Sülzberg. After leaving the forest, we pass a quarry and the Wallenstein with its old castle ruins. A little later, we reach the Meschede district of Wallen. Here we have the opportunity to stop for refreshments and fortify ourselves for the rest of the route. We leave Wallen heading north along the old Way of the Cross. At the famous pilgrimage chapel "Zur Schmerzhaften Mutter" on the Halloh, we turn right and follow the path past the Stesser Stein (330 m above sea level) to Calle. From here, we continue in a southerly direction through the valley of the Kelbkebach stream. The trail then continues through forests and fields until we reach our starting point in Oesterberge. The path is marked throughout with the signpost (m) - a small m in a circle.
