The A9 hiking trail offers the most beautiful views of the Dräulzer Land in addition to a nature experience. The highlights are the unique landscape panoramas at Blockhaus and Hecke. On a clear day, hikers can see across the Bergisches Land to the Siebengebirge on the Rhine. Also at Blockhaus, a sign points the way to a juniper area.

At the beginning of the 19th century, extensive juniper areas were still part of our region, but today they are a rarity. We recommend ending the tour with a walk through the hedge maze located above Stupperhof. The labyrinth is designed in the Gothic style and invites you to meditate and contemplate. A detour to the Hünkeshohl Marienkapelle (see signs at the town park) and a visit to Drolshagen are also worthwhile. There is a lot to see there too: A pillar basilica from the 11th century, the market square with many half-timbered houses, the Old Monastery and remains of the town wall.

Information

Directions

You start the hike in the Drolshagen town park or walk from the Drolshagen Markt bus stop into Gerberstraße. Follow this road into the town park. At the end of the park, cross the Wormicke on a wooden footbridge and the street "In der Trift", turn left and after about 6 m turn right onto the now constantly signposted A9 (white lettering on a black background). Leave the wide road after approx. 250 m and stay on the right at the same height. The path leads along the Wormicke stream through beautiful mixed woodland and after a further 600 m below the village of Wormberg you come to a tarred section. Turn left and follow this road (and the A 9 sign), which initially climbs steeply and after approx. 900 m leads through pastureland into a wooded area.In the forest, keep to the right-hand path in the left-hand bend, which continues uphill and ends after another 400 m on a ridgeway. At this fork in the path, turn right towards Gelslingen, which you reach after approx. 800 m on a comfortable path. In Gelslingen, turn left along the K37 for approx. 200 m. The road turns left here, but take the forest path on the right and follow the A9 signs towards Blockhaus. Stay on this hiking trail straight ahead until you reach the hamlet of Blockhaus after approx. 1400 m. The A9 hiking trail rejoins a tarred road here, which you follow for approx. 230 m, turning right. While the road now turns left and leads downhill to Eckenhagen, you continue straight ahead into a field and meadow area, staying at the same altitude.Following the previously paved path, you reach the edge of the forest after another 850 m through a wooded area. Here you can take a detour to the left into a juniper area. Following the A 9, you walk above the village of Hecke with a wonderful view of the Sauerland and the Oberberge region. After just under 400 m, you cross a tarred road. The A 9 leads quickly along the edge of the forest and after approx. 500 m into a deciduous forest. Following the beautiful path, you come to a crossroads. Turn right here at an angle of approx. 90 degrees and continue along the A 9 towards Benolpe. After a further 400 m, leave this path and turn right onto a meadow path, which leads past the SGV hut, descending slightly in a few bends. The hut square invites you to linger. In front of the hut, a paved section of path begins again, on which you reach the village of Benolpe after approx. 500 m.In the center of the village, you will come directly to the K 36. At the playground, turn right and walk east towards Drolshagen. After about 60 m, turn left onto the road "Am Hang". It now goes uphill again past residential houses. After a slight left-hand bend, the A 9 hiking trail turns right after approx. 400 m. Follow a soft forest path through high forest and past Weide until you reach a forest path coming from the left after approx. 450 m. Keeping slightly to the right, follow this path downhill towards Drolshagen. After about 700 m, a sign points to the labyrinth almost on the way. There is a refreshment stop not far from here. The A 9 remains on the slightly right-turning tarred road downhill until it meets the K9 and K36. From here you can already see the starting point of the hike, the Drolshagen town park.
