How the "Brudertreue" got its name
You start at the Brudertreue rest area. There is a memorial stone in the immediate vicinity. With this stone, "three brothers" from the Schürholz family honored their youngest brother, who died at an early age and with whom they often visited the Drolshagen countryside. These four 'Schürhölzer' loved Drolshagen. They particularly enjoyed hiking here on this mountain ridge. Clemens Schürholz often sat here and painted. The memorial stone has become the epitome of love of home in the Drolshagen region.
Steupingen - more than just a place of witches
At 481 m, the Steupingen is the highest elevation in the immediate vicinity of the historic town of Drolshagen. The name refers to a former settlement that was abandoned when the town of Drolshagen was founded. Archaeological finds prove that Steupingen was already settled in the early Middle Ages. A witch is said to have once lived in Steupingen. So be careful, you never know. If you want to find out more about the witch: The legend of the witch of Steupingen
