The route through the 230-hectare former military area between Büecke and Hiddingsen is particularly scenic. The area has since been included in the international protected area system of the "Natura 2000" network, and lush nature has completely reclaimed the former military training area.
Today, the "Kleiberg Nature Reserve" resembles a relic of pre-industrial agriculture in the Soest Börde: Semi-wild horses, Heck cattle and flocks of sheep keep the landscape open as grazing animals. 700,000 euros in funding was invested in the development of this nature experience. The raised viewing platforms invite you to linger and observe - little cyclists will have a great time here, especially in spring when the flock of sheep is rearing its young.
